Codex + Cursor + Claude Code
Post to social media from your coding agent
Codex, Cursor and Claude Code post to social media through Socialync's MCP server, which is included on the free plan with no card. Add https://mcp.socialync.io/mcp to your agent, sign in once in the browser, and it can draft, schedule and publish to 8 networks after you confirm. Handy for launch posts and changelogs written next to the code.
About five minutes the first time. Free plan, no card.
Five steps, once
- 1
Connect your accounts in Socialync
Create a free Socialync account (no card), open Settings, then Connections, and connect the networks you post to. X needs a paid plan. The other 7 work on free.
- 2
Add the server to your agent
A command in Codex and Claude Code, a few lines of JSON in Cursor and Gemini CLI. The exact setup for each agent is below.
- 3
Sign in once
Your agent opens a browser. Sign in to Socialync and pick the brands the agent may manage. There is no API key to paste, and you can remove access any time from Connected apps in Socialync.
- 4
Ask for the post
For example: "Write a launch post from the last 10 commits, one version for X and one for LinkedIn, and schedule both for 9am tomorrow." The agent checks each version against the network's limits.
- 5
Say yes
The agent shows you the exact text, images, accounts and time and waits for your yes. Scheduled posts land in your Socialync calendar.
Setup for each agent
The same server and the same tools in every one. Pick yours, paste, sign in.
Codex CLI
Add the server, then sign in. The second command opens your browser.
codex mcp add socialync --url https://mcp.socialync.io/mcp
codex mcp login socialyncClaude Code
Run the command, then type /mcp inside Claude Code and sign in when the browser opens.
claude mcp add --transport http socialync https://mcp.socialync.io/mcpCursor
Open Settings, then MCP, and add a server with this JSON. Cursor opens the Socialync sign in.
{

"socialync": {
"url": "https://mcp.socialync.io/mcp"

}Gemini CLI
Add this to ~/.gemini/settings.json, then run /mcp auth socialync in the CLI.

}Any other agent
Any client that supports remote MCP with OAuth: add the URL and sign in. The generic config is below, and the public README has the exact config for more clients.

}Scripts and headless agents
Anything that runs without a person at a browser. Generate a key on the API Keys page (one per brand, on every plan) and send it as a Bearer header. Keep it out of git.

}Things to ask
Your agent can read the repo, so the post can come straight from the work.
- “Write a launch post from the last 10 commits and schedule it for 9am tomorrow on X, LinkedIn and Threads.”
- “Turn the newest entry in CHANGELOG.md into a LinkedIn post with the release link in the first comment. Show me before you publish.”
- “Render the demo with our script, upload it to Socialync, and schedule it to TikTok, Reels and YouTube for Friday at 6pm. Ask me who can view it on TikTok.”
- “What is scheduled next week, and did anything fail this week?”
- “Pull last month's top 5 posts and draft next week's posts in the same style.”
What your agent can do through Socialync
Writing the post is the easy part. The agent also handles the accounts, the media, the timing and the queue in the same session.
Text and image posts
Publish right away to Instagram (with an image), Facebook, X, LinkedIn, Threads and Bluesky, or schedule up to 12 months ahead on paid plans and 2 on free.
Video your code rendered
If your agent renders a video or a set of slides, it uploads the files straight to your Socialync library and schedules them. An image batch becomes one carousel, in upload order.
A caption per network
A short X version, a longer LinkedIn post and a YouTube title, all from one request. One publish counts as one post.
Checked before it is queued
The agent runs Socialync's check on caption length, links, media, aspect ratio, video duration and each account's connection before it posts.
Drafts you approve in the app
Ask for a draft when you want to look first, and approve it on your Socialync drafts page. A draft you do not approve expires after 24 hours.
Queue and numbers
List what is queued, cancel a post, see what failed and why, and pull your top posts and analytics to plan the next batch.
Every post waits for your yes
Socialync tells your agent to show you the exact text, images, accounts and time and to publish only after you say yes in the chat. Its publishing tools are also marked destructive in MCP, which clients use to ask your permission before running one. Every publish is logged with when you confirmed it.
If you let your agent run tools without asking, have it make drafts instead. A draft waits on your Socialync drafts page, nothing goes out until you approve it there, and a draft you do not approve expires after 24 hours.
Optional: give your agent the rules up front
Paste this into the chat, or into the instructions file your agent reads for this repo.
You can post to my social accounts through Socialync. Call list_profiles, then list_connections. Before any post, run validate_post, show me the exact text, platforms, images and time, and wait for my yes. For TikTok, ask me who can view the video. Use publish_scheduled for anything with a video.TikTok from an agent or a script
TikTok requires the person posting to choose who can view each video: Everyone, Friends, Followers or Only me. For an agent signed in with OAuth, the rule applies today: Socialync refuses a TikTok post until it carries the person's answer, so the agent asks. One answer can cover a batch the person asks for together.
Scripts on an API key should pass that choice as tiktokPrivacyLevel too. Until November 16, 2026, an API key TikTok post without it still goes out public, with a warning in the response. From that date, Socialync refuses it.
Limits
- Video is scheduled, never instant, because the platforms take minutes to process it. TikTok and YouTube take video only, and YouTube needs a title.
- X needs a paid Socialync plan. The other 7 networks work on free.
- Pinterest posts go through the Socialync app. The MCP server covers the other 8 networks.
- Your agent can cancel a scheduled post and make a new one. Editing a scheduled post happens in the Socialync app.
- 5 AI-created posts a day per brand on free, 10 on paid, to stay under the networks' spam thresholds.
- Free plan: 5 posts a month, 2 months of scheduling. Paid from $20/month: unlimited posts, 12 months.
Frequently asked questions
Can Codex post to social media?
Yes, through Socialync's MCP server. Run codex mcp add, then codex mcp login to sign in, and ask Codex for the post. It goes out through the accounts you connected in Socialync, after you say yes.
Does it work in Cursor?
Yes. Add the server URL in Cursor's MCP settings and sign in when Cursor opens the browser. The JSON is in the setup section above.
Do I need an API key?
Not for Codex, Cursor, Claude Code or Gemini CLI. They sign in with OAuth in the browser. API keys are for scripts and agents that run without a person at a browser.
Can my agent post a video it made?
Yes, as a scheduled post. The agent uploads the file to your Socialync library and schedules it, and one request can send it to TikTok, YouTube, Instagram Reels and the rest. YouTube needs a title, and TikTok needs your choice of who can view it: Everyone, Friends, Followers or Only me.
Will my agent post without asking me?
No. Socialync tells the agent to show you the post and wait for your yes, and its publishing tools are marked destructive so clients ask before running them. If your agent runs tools without asking, have it make drafts and approve them in the Socialync app.
Is it free?
Yes to start. The free plan is $0 with no card: 5 posts a calendar month, up to 5 connected accounts, 2 months of scheduling, and MCP included. Paid plans start at $20/month with unlimited posts, X, and 12 months of scheduling.
Does it work in Claude.ai, ChatGPT and Grok too?
Yes. It is the same server. Each one has its own walkthrough page.
