Platforms publish safe zones for ads only, so those are the numbers here, read on each platform's own pages and files on October 11, 2026. The buttons and text drawn on the overlay show where the app puts them and are there for reference. The shaded areas are the published numbers.
- TikTok: TikTok publishes its safe zone as a template file on its In-Feed Ads help page. The file prints the top, bottom and side margins and the height of the button column on a 720 by 1280 frame, and they are scaled here to 1080 by 1920. The file does not print the width of the button column, so Socialync measured it from the file itself. - Instagram Reels: Meta states these margins as percentages of the frame on its ad spec page for Instagram Reels. The pixel values are those percentages of a 1080 by 1920 frame, rounded. Meta ads guide, Instagram Reels video specs
- YouTube Shorts: Google prints these pixel values on the 1080 by 1920 safe zone image in its help article on vertical video ads for YouTube. Google Ads help, safe zones for vertical video ads on YouTube
- Facebook Reels: Meta’s ad spec page for Facebook Reels did not load when we checked. Meta’s Reels ads page covers Facebook and Instagram together and points to one Reels safe zone, so these are the margins Meta prints for Instagram Reels. Check them against a Facebook Reel on your own phone. Meta, Instagram and Facebook Reels ads, Meta ads guide, Instagram Reels video specs
- Instagram Stories: Meta states these margins as percentages of the frame on its ad spec page for Instagram Stories. The pixel values are those percentages of a 1080 by 1920 frame, rounded. Meta ads guide, Instagram Stories video specs

Frequently asked questions
What is a safe zone?
The part of a vertical video the app leaves clear of its own buttons, caption, username and menus. Text, faces and logos inside it stay visible. Anything outside it can sit under the interface or be cropped on some screens.
Which platform covers the most of the frame?
TikTok, where about 38% of a 1080 by 1920 frame stays clear. Instagram Reels, Facebook Reels and Instagram Stories leave the most, at about 45%. Keep text inside the area every platform leaves clear when you post one video to all of them.
Can I download the safe zone templates?
Yes. Each platform has a free, transparent 1080x1920 PNG and SVG with the covered areas shaded and the clear area outlined. Put it on the top track in CapCut, Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro or Canva, keep your text inside the green outline, then hide the layer before you export.
Does the checker upload my image or video?
No. Your browser opens the file on your device and draws the overlay on top of it. Nothing is sent anywhere.
Are these safe zones for ads or for regular posts?
TikTok, Meta and Google publish their safe zones for ads, and those are the only official numbers. Ads play in the same full screen feed as regular posts, with the same caption, buttons and username, and add a call to action button.
Is the safe zone the same on every phone?
The numbers are for a 9:16 frame. Phones with taller or wider screens crop the edges or add bars, and Meta says its side margins are there to keep key elements from being cropped. Check one real post on your own phone before a big campaign.
