X (Twitter) character counter
The X (Twitter) limit is 280 characters per post. Paste your text to get the exact count, plus whether it fits on every other platform.
How X counts characters
X weights characters. Most letters count as 1, emoji and Chinese, Japanese and Korean characters count as 2, and every link counts as 23 however long it is.
The 280 limit applies to standard accounts. Accounts with X Premium can post longer text.
X rejects a post that is over the limit, so a post that looks short can still fail if it has several links or a lot of emoji.

280 characters for a post. X weights characters. Most letters count as 1, emoji and Chinese, Japanese and Korean characters count as 2, and every link counts as 23 however long it is.
What happens if my X post is over the limit?
X refuses or cuts text that runs past the limit. Socialync checks the count before it publishes and tells you which platform is over, so you can shorten it or write a separate X version.
Can I post the same text to X and other platforms at once?
Yes. Socialync publishes one post to all 9 platforms at once and lets you write a separate caption for any platform with a tighter limit. The free plan needs no card.
