Connecting Instagram
Instagram accepts posts from third-party apps only on professional accounts, so your Instagram must be a Business or Creator account. Switch in the Instagram app under Settings, Account type and tools, then connect it in Socialync. You can connect with your Instagram login, or through a Facebook Page the account is linked to.

Two ways to connect
- Instagram login: sign in with the Instagram account itself. This is the shortest path for a Creator or Business account that is not tied to a Facebook Page.
- Facebook Page: if your Instagram Business account is linked to a Facebook Page you manage, connect through Facebook and choose the Page. Meta asks which Pages to allow; tick the one the Instagram account is linked to.
Personal Instagram accounts cannot be connected. Converting to a professional account is free, takes a minute, and can be reversed in Instagram at any time.
If Instagram asks you to log in again
Instagram sometimes puts an account through a security check and refuses posts until it is cleared. Log in to that account on instagram.com or in the Instagram app, complete the check, then reconnect it in Socialync and retry the post. A connection also expires from time to time; the sidebar and the comments inbox both show a Reconnect button when that happens.
Captions Instagram rejects
Instagram allows up to 30 hashtags per post and reports going over as "caption too long", even when the caption is short. Count the hashtags first. The caption itself can be up to 2,200 characters.
