Can AI Agents Post to Instagram and TikTok? (2026)
Quick answer: Yes. Claude, ChatGPT, Google Antigravity, Gemini CLI, OpenAI Codex and Cursor can all post to Instagram and TikTok once you connect them to a social media MCP server like Socialync. The agent writes the post, you confirm it, and Socialync publishes it through your own connected accounts. Text and image posts go out right away to Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, Threads and Bluesky. Video, including TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts, goes out as a scheduled post. The MCP server is included on Socialync's free plan, which is 5 posts a month with no card.
I built Socialync, so take my pick with that in mind. Everything below is setup you can copy, and the last section lists the other MCP servers that publish so you can compare.
What you need first
Three things, whichever agent you use:
- An agent that speaks MCP. MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the standard way AI apps plug into outside tools. Claude, ChatGPT, Antigravity, Gemini CLI, Codex and Cursor all support it.
- A Socialync account with your socials connected. You connect Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and the rest once, through each platform's own sign in. The agent never sees your passwords.
- The server URL:
https://mcp.socialync.io/mcp
That URL is the same for every agent. Only the place you paste it changes.
Can Google Antigravity post to Instagram and TikTok automatically?
Yes, once you add an MCP server that publishes. Antigravity connects to remote MCP servers by URL, and its docs say it "automatically handles OAuth for servers that support dynamic client registration." Socialync's server supports it, so there are no keys to copy.
Setup:
- Open the MCP settings. In Antigravity 2.0 that's Settings, then Customizations, then Installed MCP Servers. In the Antigravity IDE, click the ... menu on the agent panel, then MCP Servers, then Manage MCP Servers.
- Add Socialync to your config. The global file is
~/.gemini/config/mcp_config.json, and a workspace file goes in.agents/mcp_config.json.
{
"mcpServers": {
"socialync": {
"serverUrl": "https://mcp.socialync.io/mcp"
}
}
}
- Antigravity opens a browser window. Sign in to Socialync and pick the brand the agent can manage.
- Ask for a post: "Schedule my newest video in Socialync to TikTok and Instagram Reels for 6pm tomorrow, with a caption for each."
Antigravity uses serverUrl. Its docs say the url and httpUrl fields other clients use are not supported there.
If the sign in window never opens, use an API key instead. Make one at socialync.io/api-keys and add a header:
{
"mcpServers": {
"socialync": {
"serverUrl": "https://mcp.socialync.io/mcp",
"headers": {
"Authorization": "Bearer YOUR_SOCIALYNC_API_KEY"
}
}
}
}
About the word "automatically": Antigravity can write, schedule and publish for you, but it asks first. Every post needs a yes from you, in the chat or in the Socialync app. More on that below.
Can Claude post to Instagram and TikTok?
Yes. Claude has the simplest setup of any agent here.
Claude on the web, desktop or phone: go to Settings, then Connectors, then Add custom connector, and paste https://mcp.socialync.io/mcp. Claude walks you through the Socialync sign in. Claude's help center says custom connectors work on Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise, and Free accounts get one custom connector.
Claude Code:
claude mcp add --transport http socialync https://mcp.socialync.io/mcp
Then ask Claude what you want posted. There's a full walkthrough with screenshots in the MCP connector guide.
Can ChatGPT post to TikTok and Instagram?
Yes, on plans that let you add a custom MCP server. In ChatGPT you turn on developer mode and add a custom connector with the Socialync URL. OpenAI has changed which plans can do this more than once, so check OpenAI's developer mode page for yours before you set it up.
Once it's connected, it works the same as Claude: ChatGPT drafts, you confirm, Socialync posts.
Gemini CLI, Codex and Cursor
All three connect with the same URL.
Gemini CLI. Add Socialync to ~/.gemini/settings.json. Gemini CLI uses httpUrl for this kind of server, per its MCP docs:
{
"mcpServers": {
"socialync": {
"httpUrl": "https://mcp.socialync.io/mcp"
}
}
}
Then run /mcp auth socialync and sign in.
OpenAI Codex CLI:
codex mcp add socialync --url https://mcp.socialync.io/mcp
codex mcp login socialync
Cursor. Add this to .cursor/mcp.json in your project or ~/.cursor/mcp.json for every project:
{
"mcpServers": {
"socialync": {
"url": "https://mcp.socialync.io/mcp"
}
}
}
Any other MCP client works the same way. Point it at the URL, sign in, done. The full list of client configs lives in the public Socialync MCP repo.
What "automatically" means here
People search for an AI that posts automatically. Here's exactly what the agent can and can't do through Socialync.
What it does on its own:
- Writes a caption for each platform in your voice
- Checks each post against the platform's limits before it goes anywhere (caption length, image count, video length, aspect ratio)
- Schedules posts weeks or months out: 2 months ahead on the free plan, 12 months on paid plans
- Pulls your analytics and top posts to plan what to post next (paid plans)
Where you stay in the loop:
Post to all your platforms in one click
Socialync lets you cross-post to TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, X, Facebook, LinkedIn, Threads, Bluesky, and Pinterest, with AI-powered captions for each platform. Free to start.
- Every post needs your yes. The agent shows you the exact caption, platforms and time, and waits. Or it saves drafts you approve at socialync.io/mcp-drafts-approval. There's no mode where it posts unattended.
- Video comes from your Socialync library. A chat can't receive a raw video file, so upload the video in Socialync first (or give the agent a public video link). Then the agent can schedule it anywhere.
- Daily caps. An agent can create 5 posts a day per brand on the free plan and 10 a day on paid plans.
What goes out where:
| Post type | Platforms | How |
|---|---|---|
| Text or images | Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, Threads, Bluesky | Right away or scheduled |
| Video | TikTok, YouTube, Instagram Reels and the 5 others | Scheduled |
Instagram needs at least one image or video, and YouTube needs a title. Everything posts through each platform's official API, from accounts you connected yourself, and you can disconnect any of them at any time.
A content posting workflow you can copy
This is the weekly loop I'd set up for a creator. Paste these prompts into any connected agent.
Monday: plan from what worked
Use get_top_posts to pull my 5 best posts from the last 30 days. Tell me what they have in common. Then give me 5 post ideas for this week in that style.
Monday: write and schedule the week
Write each idea as a post for TikTok, Instagram, LinkedIn and Threads, with a caption that fits each platform. Run validate_post on every one. Then schedule them as drafts, Monday to Friday at 6pm my time, and give me the list to approve.
Any day: send a video everywhere
List my newest videos with list_media. Schedule the latest one to TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts for tomorrow at 5pm. YouTube title: "How I edit a Short in 10 minutes". Show me everything before you schedule it.
Repurpose something long
Here's the transcript of my latest YouTube video. Turn it into a LinkedIn post, an X post and a Threads post. Show me all three before scheduling anything.
Friday: check the queue
Show me next week's posts with get_scheduled_posts, and anything that failed this week with get_post_history.
The tool names in those prompts are optional. Agents pick the right tool from plain English, but naming it makes the run faster and easier to follow.
Other MCP servers that can post
Socialync isn't the only option. Here are the MCP servers I'd look at, with numbers from each company's pricing page in October 2026:
| MCP server | MCP on a free plan | Paid from | Worth a look if |
|---|---|---|---|
| Socialync | Yes, 5 posts a month | $20 a month for 5 accounts | You post the same video to every platform |
| Buffer | Yes | $5 per channel a month, billed yearly | You already run your queue in Buffer |
| Metricool | Yes | $20 a month, $16 billed yearly | Analytics matter most to you |
| Postiz | No hosted free plan, free to self host | $29 a month for 5 channels | You want open source |
| Blotato | No, the trial excludes MCP | $29 a month | You want AI image and video generation too |

FAQ
Can AI post to TikTok automatically without me?
No. Through Socialync, every post needs your approval, either in the chat or in the app. The agent can do all the writing and scheduling, and you give the final yes.
Can Claude upload a video to TikTok?
Yes, as a scheduled post. Upload the video to your Socialync library first, or give Claude a public link to it, because a chat can't hold a raw video file. Then Claude can schedule it to TikTok, Reels and Shorts at once.
Does the AI need my Instagram or TikTok password?
No. You connect each account to Socialync once with that platform's own sign in. The agent works through that connection and never sees a password.
Is it safe to let an AI agent post to my accounts?
It's as safe as the server you connect. Look for three things: official platform APIs, a confirmation step before anything posts, and the ability to revoke access. Socialync has all three, and you can disconnect the agent or any social account from your settings at any time.
How much does it cost to let an AI post for me?
Socialync's MCP server is on every plan. The free plan is 5 posts a month with no card, and one post can go to every platform you tick. Paid plans start at $20 a month for 5 accounts with unlimited posts. Your AI app may have its own plan rules for custom connectors.
Which AI is best for posting to social media?
Any agent that supports MCP works. Claude has the quickest setup. Antigravity, Cursor and Codex make sense if you already code in them. Pick the one you already use every day.
